your Frequently Asked Questions

Here’s a selection of some of our most frequently asked questions. If you can’t find the information you need then please get in touch.

Do we need to book to walk round the site?

We don’t need you to book in advance. Instead, you can purchase tickets at The Coalface visitor centre when you arrive but you can also book your tickets or annual pass online before arrival if you prefer too.

Are dogs welcome?

Dogs are very welcome on site and we always love to meet your furry friends, but please respect other visitors and ensure dogs are kept under control. We ask that dogs are kept on leads when other visitors and dogs are nearby. Dog waste bins can be found around the site, so please help us to keep the Multiverse looking lovely by cleaning up after your pets.

Can you let dogs off the lead?

It is important dogs are kept under control at all times. If your dog has good recall and there are no other visitors or dogs nearby, this should be fine. We ask that you respect other visitors and ensure pets do not cause any issues. It is also worth noting that there are sheep in neighbouring fields so please be mindful of this.

What’s available at coalface?

The Coalface has a range of light refreshments on offer. We serve a range of hot coffees (caffeinated and decaf), teas and other hot drinks, as well as a variety of cold drinks and water. We have a selection of confectionary such as Ice Creams, chocolate, wafer biscuits, sweets, a variety of crisps, cake bars and cookies are also available.

How long will it take to walk around the site?

Depending on the route you take and the speed you like to walk, it can take anything from 1 – 2 hours.

Are Drones allowed to be used on site for photography?

Currently we don’t allow drones to be used on site. This is to respect other visitors and allow them a peaceful visit, as well as not to disturb wildlife and neighbouring landowners. If you have a project in mind please get in touch.

Is there overnight parking allowed (motorhomes etc)?

Yes, you can book an Aire space if you have a motorhome. More information can be found on our Aire Booking page.

Suitability for people with mobility issues?

Many of the steep slopes are not suitable for wheelchair users and visitors with other mobility issues. Access to the centre of the site is possible. The main gate can be opened by a member of staff to allow vehicle access to the heart of the site, from there it is possible to view the surrounding landforms. Please contact us ahead of your visit so we can arrange for the gate to be opened for you.

How far is the walk around site?

The site covers 55 acres with several routes you can take to explore the site so it can be as long or as short as you would like to make it on your visit.

Is Crawick Multiverse open all year round?

Crawick Multiverse is usually open daily from spring to autumn and is closed during the winter months. Very occasionally, it is necessary to close the site temporarily for maintenance, special events or due to the weather conditions. Please check before travelling.
