A world-class Scottish artland has launched its annual outdoor education programme and is urging educators to get in touch and find out more.
School children, university students and groups from a range of organisations can immerse themselves in the great outdoors and take part in a unique educational experience amidst the galaxies of Crawick Multiverse.
The stunning site in Dumfries and Galloway – inspired by space, astronomy and cosmology – has played host to interactive theatre performances and solstice celebrations and also boasts a sterling reputation for educational visits.
Groups can book in for a one-off trip or a series of hands-on learning experiences at the site, where you can learn about a diverse range of subjects – from brushing up on your knowledge of nature and camping skills to exploring the features and inspirations of the Crawick Multiverse.
Recent groups to visit include American university students from various degrees including architecture, photography and design, who completed an outdoor education workshop led by Prof Katja Marquart of University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Pupils from Closeburn House School have previously attended a two day course covering pond dipping, fire lighting and emergency shelter building at Crawick along with nature inspired crafts. The secondary school pupils have already booked in to return to the site over the summer.
The site was also used by more than 70 pupils from Sanquhar Academy who used the unique 55-acre location as the setting for their latest theatrical performance, staged in conjunction with the Walking Theatre Group.
Ian Bell, site manager at Crawick Multiverse, said: “We love to welcome groups on site for a whole range of activities as the picturesque surroundings offer a unique educational setting where you can learn about a diverse range of subjects, from art and geology to science and astronomy.
“Crawick is open to groups of all ages, and we would love to hear from anyone considering a visit.”
